Winter Workshop

The Winter Workshop takes place over winter break each year in Evarts, Ky. The Winter Workshop originated as a compliment to the more formal September workshop. In the September workshop students have to opportunity to be coached by established professionals from around the country, have story ideas presented to them, and attend critiques run by their coaches. The September workshop is also only open to University of Kentucky students.

Contrasting with the September workshop, Winter Workshop students are responsible for finding their own stories while in the community of Evarts. This is in addition to running the critiques and collectively coaching one another during the week. This is done to help students develop a personal connection with their work and to put into practice the skills learned at the September workshop. Non-UK students are also encouraged to take part, as this builds professional and personal relationships between UK students and other emerging young professionals.

This workshop is focused exclusively on still photojournalism.
